Permissions And Thanks

For more than half a century, Serge and Beate Klarsfeld and their organization, Fils et Filles des Déportés Juifs de France (“Sons and Daughters of the Jewish Deportees from France”), have dedicated themselves to the memory of the more than 11,400 children deported from Drancy. They have recovered thousands of photographs and obtained and published the name and address in France of every deported child. Without their tireless and courageous work the play Children of Drancy would not have been possible.

Thanks to Serge Klarsfeld and to the Fils and Filles des Déportés de France for permission to cite from his lifelong research on the Shoah in France as well as from Drancy by Noël Calef; to Antoine Sabbagh and Editions Tallandier for permission to use letters published in Lettres de Drancy; to the Editions du Centre de Documentation Juive Contemporaine for permission to cite from the work of Georges Wellers; to Pierre Andreu and the Editions de la Table Ronde to cite from Vie et mort de Max Jacob; and to Cécile Clairval-Milhaud for permission to quote from her video Drancy: Last Stage Before the Abyss.

The poems by Max Jacob, “La terre” from Derniers poèmes en vers et en prose and “Le soldat qui disait ‘je sais mener un train’”from Ballades appear in the play thanks to © Editions Gallimard.

For the premiere of the play at Northeastern University in October 2007, thanks are in order to the Department of Theatre, The Office of the Provost, The Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, The Program in Cinema Studies, and the TV Training Studio at Northeastern University. Thanks also to The Stotsky Professorship in Jewish Historical and Cultural Studies, The Boston Jewish Film Festival, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and Library, the Drancy Memorial Museum, the Consulate General of France in Boston, and the Harvard Theatre Collection.
